5. User Profiles and CVs
5.1 Profile Information
Your profile is your identity on Kora. You may create and edit:
- professional title and summary
- experience, education, and skills
- profile photo
- location and duty station preferences
- languages spoken
- areas of expertise and interests
- links to professional profiles (LinkedIn, personal website, etc.)
5.2 CV Upload and AI Processing
You may upload your curriculum vitae (CV) in PDF or DOC format.
Kora uses artificial intelligence to analyse the CV and automatically extract professional information such as:
- work experience (employers, roles, periods)
- education and qualifications
- technical and transferable skills
- languages and proficiency levels
- certifications and professional qualifications
This extracted information is used to automatically generate your "Professional Card", which constitutes the professional profile visible to other users on the platform.
The AI system also performs an automated sector-alignment classification, indicating the likelihood that your professional background is consistent with the international cooperation and development sector.
Important:
- You retain full control over your profile. You may edit, correct, supplement, or remove any information automatically generated in the Professional Card before publishing it.
- The automatically generated Professional Card is not published until you explicitly validate it.
- You may edit, update, or delete the Professional Card at any time.
- AI-generated classifications (e.g. sector alignment) are indicative only and do not affect your verification status or platform access.
- Kora does not make automated decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significant effects on you without human oversight. In particular:
- the sector-alignment classification does not automatically determine the acceptance or rejection of your verification
- job recommendations are suggestions only; you decide whether to apply
- no algorithm independently decides on your eligibility to participate in the platform
Transparency about the AI system:
In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (AI Act) and the GDPR, we provide the following information about how the AI system works:
- Logic used: the AI system uses natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques to identify textual patterns in the uploaded CV. The system recognises typical linguistic structures (e.g. organisation names, qualifications, time periods, technical skills) and extracts this data to populate the fields of the Professional Card.
- Importance of processing: automated CV analysis significantly speeds up the creation of the professional profile, reducing the time required for manual data entry and improving the accuracy of job matching.
- Expected consequences: based on the generated Professional Card, the system may suggest job opportunities deemed compatible with your professional profile. However, no automated decision that produces legal effects or significantly affects you is made without your supervision and validation. You decide which information to accept, edit, or delete from the Professional Card, and you actively apply to job listings.
- Accuracy and limitations: the AI system may make errors in extracting or classifying information (e.g. misinterpreting a qualification, organisation name, or skill). For this reason, we always ask you to carefully verify and validate the extracted data before publishing your Professional Card.
- Right to human intervention: in accordance with Article 22(3) GDPR, you have the right to obtain human intervention from Kora, to express your view, and to contest any automated classifications or decisions. You may exercise this right by contacting us at support@koraglobe.com
Data protection safeguards in AI systems:
- Third-party AI service providers used by Kora are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their own AI models.
- Kora does not use user data to train proprietary AI models without your explicit and separate consent.
- Personal data processed by AI systems is protected by encryption in transit and at rest.
- Access to data processed by AI systems is limited to authorised personnel and strictly necessary systems.
- We continuously monitor the accuracy and reliability of AI systems to reduce the risk of errors and bias.
5.3 Profile Visibility
Your profile (Professional Card) is visible to all platform users (verified and unverified).
Verified users may contact you via Kora's messaging system.
Your profile information may appear in search results and recommendations.
You may control which information is publicly visible through your privacy settings.
5.4 Messaging and User Communications
Kora may provide messaging tools that allow users to interact with one another.
You are solely responsible for any messages or communications you send via the platform.
Kora does not actively monitor private communications between users in real time and is not responsible for the content of such communications, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), which exempts intermediary service providers from liability for user-generated content, provided they are not aware of illegal activity or content and act promptly to remove it or disable access once they become aware (DSA Art. 6).
However, Kora reserves the right to investigate reports of:
- abuse
- harassment
- improper conduct
- illegal content
Sending abusive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, defamatory, or illegal messages may result in immediate account suspension or termination, without notice.
6. User-Generated Content
6.1 Ownership and Licensing
You retain all intellectual property rights to any content you create or upload to Kora, including:
- posts and comments
- images and documents
- CVs and professional portfolios
- any other original work
However, by posting content to Kora, you grant Kora a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sub-licensable licence to:
- display and distribute your content on the platform
- use your content in anonymised, aggregate analytics and research
- reproduce your content for archival and backup purposes
- modify, adapt, or create derivative works from your content to the extent strictly necessary for service delivery (e.g. formatting, image resizing)
This licence remains valid for the duration of your account.
Upon account deletion, Kora will cease displaying your content, except where:
a) it has been shared, quoted, or incorporated into other users' content in a way that cannot reasonably be undone (e.g. your comment in a community discussion);
b) it has been fully anonymised and aggregated for research, statistical analysis, or service improvement;
c) retention is required by law, court order, or for the defence of legal rights.
Additionally, Kora may analyse anonymised and aggregated data derived from user activity, job listings, professional profiles, community interactions, and platform usage in order to generate labour market statistics, research findings, sector trends, market reports, and commercial analytics. Such analyses may be used internally or shared with third parties (e.g. international organisations, research institutions, media) in the form of reports, research publications, or commercial services, provided that no personally identifiable information or confidential user data is disclosed.
This licence does not restrict your rights under the GDPR, including your right to erasure, right to object, and right to data portability (see Privacy Policy).
6.2 Content Moderation
Kora and our volunteer ambassadors reserve the right to:
- review, edit, or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law
- suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious violations
- report illegal activity to relevant authorities
You acknowledge that content moderation is not real-time and that Kora is not responsible for content posted by other users. In accordance with the Digital Services Act (Regulation EU 2022/2065), Kora acts as an online hosting platform and is not subject to a general obligation to monitor user-generated content. However, once we become aware of manifestly illegal content, we act promptly to remove it or disable access.
6.3 Prohibited Content and Conduct
You agree not to post, upload, or share:
Fake profiles or misrepresentation: false or misleading identity, credentials, or affiliation.
Harassment or abuse: content that harasses, threatens, intimidates, demeans, or defames other users or third parties.
Spam: repetitive, unsolicited, automated, or unauthorised commercial messages.
Hate speech or discrimination: content based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, or any other protected characteristic.
Off-sector use: content unrelated to international cooperation and development work (e.g. generic commercial advertising, MLM or pyramid schemes, unrelated political campaigning).
Illegal content: content that violates the laws of the European Union, member states, or any other applicable jurisdiction.
Intellectual property infringement: unauthorised use of copyrighted, trademarked, or otherwise protected material.
Sexual or exploitative content: sexually explicit, pornographic, adult, or exploitative material, particularly involving minors.
Automated access, scraping, or data harvesting: it is strictly prohibited to use bots, crawlers, scrapers, automated scripts, or any automated data extraction tool to access, extract, copy, index, or collect data from the platform without Kora's prior written authorisation. This prohibition includes in particular:
- scraping user profiles, job listings, or community content
- using automated tools to create multiple or fake accounts
- mass data collection for commercial, marketing, or competitive analysis purposes
This prohibition is in place to protect user privacy, platform security, and personal data, in accordance with the GDPR and the Digital Services Act.
Competitive use of platform data: it is prohibited to use data or content extracted from Kora (even if lawfully obtained through manual access) to develop, improve, train, or feed competing products, services, platforms, or third-party machine learning / AI systems, without Kora's prior written authorisation.
Violations may result in:
- immediate content removal
- temporary or permanent account suspension
- permanent account termination without notice
- legal action for breach of contract, intellectual property infringement, user privacy violation, and/or other legal breaches

Kora aggregates international cooperation and development job opportunities from:
- United Nations agencies and programmes
- NGOs and international NGOs
- national NGOs and civil society organisations
- government development and foreign affairs agencies
- international financial institutions
- bilateral and multilateral organisations
Job listings published on Kora come from external sources (organisation websites, sector job portals, direct publications by organisations). Kora aggregates these listings through automated techniques (web scraping, APIs, RSS feeds) and through direct publication by partner organisations.
8.2 Original Sources and Attribution
All job listings on Kora include a link to the original posting on the employer's website or official source.
Kora does not host the full application process. To apply for a job, you must visit the employer's website or the original source of the listing and follow the application instructions provided there.
Listings are deduplicated and normalised using artificial intelligence.
Listings may change or expire without notice.
Kora cannot guarantee:
- the accuracy, completeness, or currency of information contained in job listings
- the continuous availability of listings (listings may be removed, modified, or expired without notice by the organisations that publish them)

- the actual existence of the advertised positions
- the absence of errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in aggregated listings
In accordance with Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act), Art. 6, Kora acts as an intermediary hosting platform and is not responsible for information published by third parties (employer organisations), provided that:
- Kora is not actually aware of the illegality of the published listings
- Kora is not aware of facts or circumstances making the illegality of the listings manifest
- Kora acts immediately to remove illegal listings or disable access to them as soon as it becomes aware
Pursuant to DSA Art. 8, Kora is not subject to any general obligation to monitor published job listings or to actively seek out facts or circumstances indicating illegal listings.
Users must always:
- verify the accuracy and completeness of job listing information by accessing the original source published by the employer
- consult the employer's official website before applying
- verify the identity and legitimacy of the employer organisation
- exercise due diligence before providing personal data or applying
8.3 Intellectual Property of Job Listings
Job listings belong exclusively to the organisations that originally published them. Kora does not claim ownership of job content.
You agree not to:
- scrape, automatically download, or mass-collect job listings from the Kora platform
- republish listings elsewhere without authorisation from the originating organisation
- use listings for unauthorised commercial purposes
Violations may result in:
- immediate account suspension or termination
- legal action for infringement of the intellectual property rights of employer organisations and/or Kora
- liability for damages caused to Kora or third parties
8.4 Job Matching and Recommendations
Kora's AI-powered matching system suggests job opportunities based on:
- your Professional Card (professional profile)
- your experience and skills
- your stated preferences (roles, geographic areas, organisations)
You may interact with the system via a "swipe" interface (yes/no) or other selection tools to indicate your interest in specific listings.
Your preference history helps improve future recommendations but is not shared publicly with other users or employer organisations.
The AI recommendation system:
- suggests job listings based on algorithmic compatibility criteria between your profile and the requirements published in the listings
- does not guarantee that recommended listings are suitable, accurate, complete, or current
- may make errors in matching profile to listing
- relies on the Professional Card data you have validated and the preferences you have expressed; if this data is incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate, recommendations may not be appropriate
Kora does not guarantee:
- that recommended listings match your actual skills, experience, or expectations
- that you will receive recommendations for all relevant listings published on the platform
- that you will be selected or hired for recommended listings
- the accuracy of any compatibility score or percentage displayed
Recommendations are indicative only and do not replace your own assessment of the relevance and interest of a listing. You freely decide whether to apply.
